The Surrey Rebels had a very emotional contest Monday
night in BC Intermediate B Lacrosse League action at the George Preston
Recreation Centre and came out on top 6-5 to earn our second victory of the
young season. Langley was ahead 4-1 at the end of the first period, but Surrey came back with a vengence.
Netminder Shaun Couzelis was outstanding, tunring aside 66 of the 71 shots he
faced. It was a great team effort by the lads and a very rewarding win.
We're off until Friday, May 25 when we host the North
Shore Indians - 8:00pm face-off, Cloverdale Arena.
General Manager Toni Belich is pleased to announce
that Padraic Lawrence will be returning behind the bench of the Rebels for the
2012 season after spending the 2011 season as head coach of the Junior Rebels.
Padraic coached the team in 2009 and 2010, and stated that he feels much more at
home working with the younger players. Cam Fielding and Greg Belich will be staying on as
assistant coaches.
We are also pleased to welcome Terry Willis and Kevin DeBruyckere into the fold
as our new Alternate Governor and Team Manager, respectively Both
gentlemen come to us from the former Semiahmoo Rock franchise.
