Intermediate Rebels rebuilding for 2010
The Surrey Rebels will have to fill 13 roster positions before West Coast Intermediate Lacrosse League play gets underway in two weeks, but won’t have to look far to find where the new additions will come from.
More than 40 players have been trying out for those positions on the Intermediate B team, which has been running practices since February.
The Rebels have lost their top four scorers from a year ago, but do have 12 players returning for 2010. Michael Bosch (19 goals, six assists, 25 points), Andre Culjac (10-6-16), Brandon Baldo (7-7-14), Thomas Henry (6-5-11), David Goodwin (4-5-9) and Spencer Gilbert (5-4-9) are expected to play larger roles in the Surrey offence this season.
Clayton Finley is the lone returning netminder, coming off a season in which he was ranked 15th among goaltenders in the 13-team league with a .812 save percentage.
Others back in the Surrey blue-and-orange are Riley Brady-Springer, Denis Vezina, Alex Lamb, John McBride and Kevin Vandenbossche.
The Rebels will play 19 games this season, 10 on their home floor Friday nights at the Cloverdale Arena at 8 p.m. The first home game is April 23 against the Delta Islanders.
