Rebels win in White Rock
A solid effort from their netminder allowed the Surrey Rebels to end a brief two-game winless streak.
Joey Puchmayr stopped 54 of 60 shots, and also assisted on a pair of goals, to help the Rebels to a 7-6 victory over the Semiahmoo Rock Tuesday night in White Rock.
Kale Millard, Brandon Sigmund, Denis Vezina, Timmy Tammen, Garrett Ewasiuk, Ryan Millen and Vaughn Readman netted a goal each for Surrey, with Brandon Baldo collecting a pair of assists and Millen, John McBride and Brandon St. Pierre earning one helper each.
The win as the second in as many road games this season for the Rebels, who are now 2-3-1 (won-lost-tied) on the season, and in fourth place in the South Conference of the B.C. Intermediate B Lacrosse League.
The Rebels play away from home twice next week, facing off Sunday night in Coquitlam against the 3-2 Adanacs, then clashing with the 5-2 North Shore Indians in North Vancouver Wednesday.
- In West Coast Junior B Lacrosse League play, the Surrey Rebels saw their winless streak stretched for four games with a 10-3 loss to the Coquitlam Adanacs Monday night at the Cloverdale Arena.
The Rebels got off to a good start, opening the scoring on a tally from Brad Olson with assists from Bobby Tammen and Max Richards. Olson set up Sean O’Beirn for Surrey’s second goal early in the second period, a score which cut a Coquitlam lead to 3-2.
The visitors then netted four consecutive goals to pull away. Olson closed out the Surrey scoring with his second goal of the contest, assisted by Matt Clarke.
The Rebels will host the 3-3 Delta Islanders Monday, May 31 at 8 p.m. in the Cloverdale Arena.
