Earning three of a possible four points, the Surrey Rebels maintained their hold on first place in the West Coast Junior Lacrosse League.

Chris Martin tallied four goals, and assisted on four others, in a 14-5 victory over the Langley Warriors Friday night in Langley.

Sean O’Beirn, Kevin Krilow, Tommy Tran and Cory Cutler netted two goals each, with Travis Mundy adding a single. Travis Voisey, O’Beirn and Tran collected two helpers apiece.

Surrey led 4-2 and 9-4 at the period breaks. Jarence Purvis stopped 17 of 22 Langley shots to get the win in goal.

The Rebels squandered a 7-5 lead in the third period Monday night in the Cloverdale Arena, but got a goal from Voisey with 55 seconds to play to earn an 8-8 draw with the Port Coquitlam Saints.

Martin led the scoring with three goals, also assisting on one other, while Voisey finished the game with a pair of tallies and two assists. Curt Callard, Casey Henry and O’Beirn completed the scoring.

The Rebels lost four players and starting goaltender Purvis during a brawl midway through the second period. Purvis was ejected for leaving the crease during an altercation, while O’Beirn, Tran, Mundy and Callard were also assessed game misconducts for fighting.

Allan McLucas, called up from the Rebels Intermediate B team, stopped 23 of 27 shots in the Surrey goal. Purvis stopped 18 of 22 shots before he was ejected.

Now at 8-1-1 (won-lost-tied), the first place Rebels lead the 7-1 Coquitlam Adanacs by one point.

The Rebels will host the Ridge Meadows Burrards Monday at 8 p.m. in the Cloverdale Arena.
